My 2016 Infiniti QX80 has been cranking slower over the past few weeks and yesterday the battery light flickered on the dash for a few seconds. I called the dealer and they quoted me 1500 dirhams for a new battery, installation, and something called "battery registration" which they said is required so the car knows the battery is new. That seems incredibly expensive to me, but I also know this car has a lot of electronics and I don't want to mess something up. A friend who owns a Nissan Patrol said he just buys a battery from any shop and swaps it himself, but I think Infinitis might be more sensitive because of all the driver assist features. I've been looking at mobile services and found a company offering . They claim to come to your home with the right AGM battery and a scan tool to register it to the car's computer. That sounds way more convenient than driving to the dealer and waiting for hours. Has anyone here actually used a mobile service for an Infiniti battery? I'm specifically wondering if they can handle the QX80's huge battery size and if they properly reset the battery management system so the alternator doesn't overcharge it. Also curious if they clean the terminals and check for corrosion, and whether they offer any warranty. I don't mind paying a fair price for good work, but 1500 from the dealer seems crazy when I see similar batteries online for 500. Any advice from other Infiniti owners would be really helpful. Trying to make the smart choice without breaking the bank. Thanks in advance.
